چکیده

Hypermedia structuring and navigation requires design methodologies different from those developed for standard information systems. This case study details our successful application of relationship management methodology (RMM), a hypermedia systems analysis and design methodology, to ACM SIGLINK’s LINKBase. LINKBase is a World Wide Web (WWW) application, which dynamically generates WWW pages from a relational database containing information about hypermedia-related events such as conferences, publications, authors, and sponsoring organizations. We describe our experience applying RMM in this case study, summarize design lessons we learned in the process, present extensions to RMM, discuss human–computer interaction (HCI) aspects of RMM, and ground our work in the hypermedia design and HCI literature. Our experiences should encourage hypermedia and WWW developers to utilize systematic design techniques to build highly usable and useful WWW applications.r 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. An Extension of UML Modeling for Web Hypermedia Design: A Case Study

It is obvious that the design efforts taken in modeling web hypermedia application are significantly different to basic web information systems. The designs should emphasis on domain structure, complex processes and interactions, functions and operations, hyperlinks structure, and logical abstract presentation designs. This paper present and discuss the design of a web hypermedia application – ...

Hypermedia in an EFL Context: The Impact on Speaking and Motivation

With the advent of computer technology and educational software, hypermedia language learning materi-als made their way in foreign and second language classrooms. Today the role of hypermedia in improv-ing communication skills is by no means deniable. This research aimed at investigating the effect of hy-permedia on the oral performance as well as the motivation of Iranian EFL Learners. A pre...

Hypermedia Synchronization Modeling: A Case Study1

The semantics of hypermedia documents depends mainly on the satisfaction of both logical and temporal synchronization constraints. Therefore, the specification and verification of temporal and logical properties of hypermedia systems is a fundamental stage that must be done before implementation. In this paper we propose a formal model, called HTSPN (Hierarchical Time Stream Petri Net), that al...

From semiotics of hypermedia to physics of semiosis: A view from system theory

Introduction With the recent advents of the WorldWide Web, multimedia, and ubiquitous computing technologies connecting an incredibly huge and still rapidly growing number of heterogeneous information resources, the task of supplying users with an adequate means for accessing these resources – the task of hypermedia system design – has become too difficult to solve, relying merely on empirical-...

Adding Hypermedia Requirements to Goal-Driven Analysis

Requirements analysis for web applications still needs to employ effective RE practices to accommodate some distinctive aspects: capturing high-level communication goals, considering several user profiles, defining hypermedia-specific requirements, and reusing requirements for an effective usability evaluation. Techniques should be usable, informal, require little training effort, and show rela...
